Amazon Beauty Sessions

Amazon Beauty Sessions

I am on route,” I thought to myself with an animated smile. I contemplated how the evening would be. It was the inaugural Amazon Beauty Blogger Sessions at Amazon’s Fashion European Photography Studio – Thursday 20th October 2016. I received an invite from Mission who I had the pleasure of meeting that evening along with the Amazon beauty team. From the get-go, the event was professionally organised. An Addison Lee car was arranged to drive me to and from the studio. Upon arrival, I received a warm welcome and was then escorted into the unassuming Amazon building after a routine security check. It is only when you are inside you realise the enormity of the venue.

The event embraced the pop-up concept with such brands as Cloud Nine offering hairstyling for guests, nails by Wah Nails, makeup artistry by The Balm, skincare by Elemis and Miller Harris fragrances. It took some time to absorb the different activities but I loved every minute of meeting brand representatives and learning about their products while enjoying delicious cocktails. I felt a little anti-social at one point due to totally immersing myself in social media activity and getting rather carried away with the #AmazonBeautySessions filter on Snap Chat and their bespoke hashtag which I added excitedly to every Twitter, Instagram and Facebook post. Like a child, I felt spoilt. I was so impressed by how well the event was structured. I was provided with an itinerary detailing the beauty services on offer at particular times. As I pondered over which treatment I should have first I was approached by a bubbly lady by the name of Lisette Henry – Business Development Account Manager. We had a lovely chat at which point I had a better understanding of Amazon’s affiliate program. Carlo Mocci – UK Health & Beauty Director gave an insightful welcome speech thereafter.

Throughout the evening cocktails and Vegan canapés flowed, light-hearted banter and a chance to meet other bloggers as well as the organisers of the event. Unfortunately, I spent more time networking so missed out on getting my hair styled by Cloud Nine but I got to see their amazing products and hair stylists in action. I managed to fit in a ‘Spot On Power’ back massage by Elemis which almost sent me into a deep sleep. Luckily, the sweet smell of fragrances by Miller Harris perked me up. I am totally loving the Vetiver Insolent Eau de Parfum given in one of the goody bags. What I really enjoyed particularly was my make-over by The Balm. I asked the makeup artist for a light touch-up and smokey eyes which she did with precision. I loved their quirky packaging and diverse range of makeup with names like ‘Dude For Thought’ and ‘Marriage Matt(e)rial’ I do love a pun!

Overall, I had such a fabulous evening; fun-loving as well as informative. This was a different kind of event; highly engaging and a wonderful educational platform to find out about new beauty brands on the market. I ended the evening revealing some of my beauty secrets filmed by Mission. For Amazon’s first beauty event they deserve 10/10. Not a generous score but a genuine one!
