At-home facial treatments have become an integral part of my skincare routine, so much so that I had almost forgotten about the salon experience. When House of Gloss opened its doors and invited me in for a collagen-boosting facial, I could not resist. It felt good to be pampered by a professional skincare therapist. Additionally, my skin needed a boost. Wellgard and House of Gloss have joined forces to offer a treatment that injects a sun-kissed glow back into your skin.
Located on Old Brompton Road near Earls Court underground and approximately three weeks old, House of Gloss is a cosy aesthetic studio. They offer various facial, laser, nailcare and Microblading treatments, including their newest Collagen Boosting Facial. The latter involves three important steps: double cleansing, using a laser rejuvenation hot plate (hydro mask) and moisturising your face, as demonstrated on my IGTV channel. Cleansing the skin is necessary to unclog the pores, remove dead cells and calm skin tightness. What does collagen do? It can improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It makes up nearly 80% of your skin and accounts for a third of the protein in your body, and as you age, collagen production decreases, causing your skin to sag.
For those with dehydrated skin, House of Gloss recommend a collagen-boosting facial once per week. The treatment effects are more prominent the following day. As such, my skin glistened upon adding moisturiser. The cost of the treatment is £150. If the latter is a little steep to commit to regularly, another alternative to restoring collagen is to maintain a good diet or purchase cost-effective creams. Here are five ways to stimulate collagen production:
I experienced Dermalux LED Phototherapy, following my facial, comparable to Beauty Angel light therapy – a non-invasive treatment that uses combinations of clinically proven Blue, Red and Near Infrared wavelengths to stimulate collagen. The entire experience was worthwhile and gave my face the collagen boost it needed. Facial treatments at House of Gloss start from £45. Furthermore, the collagen-boosting facial makes for a gold-standard pamper day experience with a friend.
