Less Is More. How To Balance Cleavage and Legs?

Many moons ago, my wardrobe consisted of cleavage-hugging dresses and miniskirts, predominantly. I wore less to feel more confident, sexually. The latter, however, attracted the wrong type of attention from men who would smile at my cleavage and legs as though they were trimmings of a feast. In retrospect, I had identified social acceptance and popularity with overt sexiness rather than internal attributes. My taste in fashion, as I have matured in age, is chicer and draws more attention to my personality and mentality.

The Golden Rule

The golden rule is to show off either your cleavage or legs in a classy way to balance out your body shape. If you are proud and confident enough to display all of your physical assets, consider loose-fitting styles to create a more elegant look. Mostly, understated sex appeal leaves more to the imagination—less is best.

Invest in wardrobe staples that compliment your silhouette. Femme Luxe caters to all shapes and sizes. I prefer outfits that showcase my legs more than my cleavage. However, I find V-neck or Bardot style tops flattering when paired with jeans, trousers or an A-line skirt.

Cleavage Or Legs

The key to a balanced outfit is to wear styles of clothing that complement each other and, as a result, define your body shape. For example, I combined a wine Bardot wrap-style top and wide-leg trousers; both of which work well together as loungewear. The wide-leg pants compensate for the crop-style top, thus creating a proportioned silhouette that looks tasteful.
As an alternative outfit combination, fitted tapered trousers with the same top would not look as demure.

Make A Statement

One statement piece within an outfit is enough to create intrigue. The wrap top is more suitable for slender body shapes and provides waist definition. Fitted on the derriere, I would suggest ordering the trousers in the next size up for a comfortable fit. If you are averse to showing your midriff, Femme Luxe has a selection of bodysuits in various styles, such as a black and white stripe square-neck bodysuit. I teamed the latter with the Bardot trousers as an alternative style to the crop top. The bodysuit also transitions easily from a day staple into an evening accent piece. The neckline is flattering, especially when worn with a jacket.

Baby doll dresses seem to be making a comeback. I have a black satin babydoll swing dress from Femme Luxe that has an asymmetrical hemline; thus, the back of the dress is longer. The style of this dress suits all body shapes. It is rather short, which will not matter to someone who is confident about their legs.

I wear short dresses often, as I am a ‘leggy’ person. I also exercise regularly to keep my body in shape. Furthermore, I wear clothes to enhance my best physical assets as opposed to hiding them. The baby doll dress I chose from Femme Luxe looks chic. Additionally, the high neckline compensates for the length of the dress. In terms of accessories, you could wear such a dress with high or low heels. However, I opted for chunky boots to create an urban vibe. When updating your wardrobe, remember to invest in transitional items such as a little black dress.

The Little Orange Dress

As Christmas is approaching quite rapidly, now is the time to shop for occasional wear. The festive season would not be the same without a few party dresses. I came across a vibrant orange one-shoulder, bodycon mini dress on Femme Luxe. In comparison to the black baby doll dress, the body-con style is more suitable for a special event.

Orange is not my go-to colour, but the form of the dress is aesthetically appealing. The asymmetrical hemline on one side of the dress makes a prominent statement. It looks elegant and provides an additional layer of fabric to hide your stomach if you’re not confident about this part of your body. Occasionally, inject colour into your wardrobe to uplift your mood. Orange is such a playful colour, but not everyone can wear such a bright colour confidently. ‘Who dares wins’—venture beyond your comfort zone.

On a final note, your wardrobe colour palette is just as important. Wear complementary colours and accessories to enhance your overall look. Metallic gold or silver work well with orange attire, although I wore multicoloured shoes with the orange dress. Fitted dresses are suitable for an hourglass or rectangular shape mainly. The golden rule is to dress for your body type and, ultimately, find a balance between looking classy and sexually attractive.
