Have you ever raided your mother’s wardrobe in the hope that you may find something ‘authentic’? – no cynicism intended. It is just that there is a slight stigma attached to borrowing an outfit from your mother’s fashion closet. An aspiring female trendsetter may argue that her mother’s style is not cool enough or fashion-forward except for a timeless leopard print piece on display, perhaps. The latter is a subtle hint that generational fashion still exists and prevails over seasonal fads. That said, is it necessary to ask “would you wear your daughter’s clothes?” I am guessing that neither mother nor daughter would think twice about wearing the same look they can adapt to their style and personality.
Multi-award winning designer Tina Malhame – founder of NoLoGo has channelled her creative artistry into a style challenge for mother and daughter to model the same dress from the NoLoGo-Chic range. Who wears it best? Ironically, this question does not fall into the equation as Tina has chosen to focus on the key message of her brand – that her clothes look fabulous on everyone.
To start the Mother-Daughter Cover Girl Challenge, Tina invited glamorous mother and daughter, Jackie and Charlie Travers, to model the same dress from the NoLoGo-Chic range. Jackie Travers is from a showbiz background. She was part of the famous dance troupe The Young Generation who danced on Top of the Pops (nostalgic memories of dancing in front of the TV screen as a child to the likes of Five Star, Bananarama, Bros and Gloria Estefan have come flooding back – those were the days!). Jackie has also appeared in four Bond movies with Pierce Brosnan.
Charlie Travers stars alongside TV clairvoyant Tyler Henry as his manager and confidante, featuring on E! News stateside. Both ladies appeared in Celebrity Big Brother 2013. Although they did not win Big Brother back then, Jackie and Charlie are most definitely winners in the style stakes having put Tina’s NoLoGo-Chic Challenge to the test. “The proof is in the pudding” so the saying goes. After a stunning photo shoot in the same Easy Jersey best seller dress, Jackie and Charlie looked no different having added their synergistic spin to generational style. “My waist looks tiny in this,” said Charlie, while Jackie was amazed that one brand really could work for both mother and daughter. Jackie added: “I love the NoLoGo dresses. Timeless and versatile, they suit both young and more mature women and can be dressed up or down…”

My mother and I followed suit by modelling Tina’s Jersey Dress and Scarf in black and khaki. We are classic dressers, but I am more daring in my fashion choices. My mother and I agreed on one thing for once that the NoLoGo Chic range is “comfortable and easy to accessorise.”

Mother-Daughter Challenge
My mother opted for a pair of silver shoes and earrings to wear with her black dress. I wore a funky pair of snakeskin shoes with mine. Made from beautiful, soft, jersey in Italy, NoLoGo Chic’s jersey dress is a luxurious wardrobe staple, one that effortlessly transitions into evening attire with a statement accessory for added impact. Despite the age difference between my mother and I, we fearlessly took on the Mother and Daughter Challenge which reinforced my belief that style is ageless. What better way to celebrate the latter than with a stylish mother and daughter duo.
